Snowfall and storm warnings for mountain highways

Environment Canada has issued snow fall and storm warnings for mountain highways in the Southern Interior.

Winter storm warning in effect for:

  • Highway 3 – Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass. Hazardous winter conditions are expected. With 30 to 40 cm of snow expected by Tuesday evening.

Snowfall warning in effect for:

  • Trans-Canada Highway – Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass. with 20 to 25 cm of snow expected by Tuesday morning.

Snowfall warning in effect for:

  • Coquihalla Highway – Hope to Merritt. Snowfall with total amounts of about 15 cm is expected, tonight.

The forecast agency reports a frontal system over the south coast will move through the B.C. interior tonight and Tuesday. Snow at times heavy will continue today through Tuesday.

Rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.
