B.C. COVID-19 update: first shots given to all care home residents and staff
A milestone for B.C.’s COVID-19 immunization program.
Dr. Bonnie Henry said all long-term care residents, and the staff that care for them, have now been offered vaccines as part of phase one of the four-phase provincial program.
The provincial health officer said 124,979 people in B.C. have received a COVID vaccine as of Friday, with 4,262 of those also getting a second dose.
“Vaccine supply is a challenge. There is no Pfizer vaccine this week and reduced doses next two weeks. Today we were told the Moderna vaccine is reduced by 20 per cent next week [due to production delays where its made in Switzerland],” B.C.’s top doctor stated.
