Vernon restaurants to be franchised

A Vernon-based company is planning to go big on franchising its restaurants.

Pretium Group, which owns The Italian Kitchen, Wings Vernon and Top Choice Pizza, has hired Natasha Krystolovich as director of franchise marketing and development for its restaurant group.

“This is an exciting time for our group. Top Choice Pizza, The Italian Kitchen and Wings Vernon are tremendous brands. We are going to start with Top Choice Pizza for additional units. Our initial target areas are Kelowna, Kamloops and Salmon Arm,” Krystolovich said.

Krystolovich said she and Pretium president Sherman Dahl are committed to one thing for potential franchisees.

“There will be no exceptions. We are looking for people that are kind and compassionate, but also love to work. Integrity, quality service and quality products are all we care about at Pretium. I have been with Pretium for quite a while. I grew up here as one of the original team working with Sherman and Katie Dahl [vice-president],” Krystolovich added.

Sherman Dahl said Top Choice Pizza in Vernon, which Pretium bought last year, is looking to double its production by extending its hours from 2 p.m. until later at night, especially on weekends. The business currently closes at 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and at 9 p.m. other days.

Top Choice will also start opening on Mondays, and future plans are for online ordering and plant-based pizza options.

“[We are] adding additional ovens, better work flow, better phone systems. Just added Touch Bistro as well. Touch Bistro is an all-in-one POS [point of sale] that is currently powering 28,000 restaurants in the world,” Dahl told Vernon Matters.

Sherman Dahl gives credit to some key team members for the success of the brands.

“None of this would be possible without Chef Rob Dew and Nicole Dew. They are both overseeing all Pretium Group restaurant operations including Top Choice Pizza. Rob and Nicole are the most experienced in our group, right up there with Katie Dahl. This team might be a bit on the old side, but man, they are the best on the street. Just ask any of our competitors,” Dahl said.
