Jan 18, 2021 | 3:27 PM

B.C. is reporting 1,330 new COVID-19 cases since Friday, including 257 in Interior Health.

There have been 31 more COVID-related deaths, raising the total to 1,078.

Health Minister Adrian Dix said four of the fatalities were in Interior Health (IH), 14 in Fraser Health, seven in Vancouver Coastal, two on Vancouver Island and four in Northern Health.

Of the deaths in IH, two are at Noric House in Vernon, the first at that facility; one is at Heritage Retirement Residence in West Kelowna (3 total)  and the other is at Sunnybank in Oliver (2 total).

The totals included 584 new cases from Friday to Saturday, 445 from Saturday to Sunday, and 301 between Sunday and Monday. The average per day over the weekend was 443 cases.

The grand total of cases in B.C. is now 61,447.

The new cases numbers by region include 281 in Vancouver Coastal Health, 548 in Fraser Health, 65 in Island Health, 257 in Interior Health, 166 in Northern Health and 13 cases to people who normally reside outside Canada. Dr. Bonnie Henry, provincial health officer, said a majority of those were new temporary farm workers coming to B.C. for the farm season. She said the province has a program to provide quarantine accommodations to those farm workers.

B.C. has 4,326 active cases with 343 people in hospital, 68 in critical or intensive care.

Dr. Henry announced an outbreak at McKinney Place in Oliver is now under control.

“That was a very challenging outbreak and 17 people lost their lives in that outbreak,” Henry stated.

There were 78 COVID-19 cases linked to the outbreak: 55 residents and 23 staff.

An outbreak is declared over when two incubation periods, or 28 days, have passed from the last onset of symptoms in a resident.

Currently, 6,865 people are being monitored for COVID-19 and 54,656 are considered recovered.

As for immunizations, Dr. Henry said 87,346 people in B.C. have been vaccinated, with another 26,775 doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines expected this week.
