Third care home COVID-19 outbreak in Vernon

Jan 3, 2021 | 2:32 PM

A long-term care facility in Vernon is the latest site of a COVID-19 outbreak.

Interior Health (IH) has announced multiple cases at Creekside Landing on Okanagan Landing Road, with two residents and two staff testing positive for the virus.

People in close contact with the individuals are in self-isolation and monitoring for symptoms. The family of the residents who tested positive have been contacted directly.

Creekside Landing is privately owned and operated by Kaigo Retirement Communities Ltd., with 70 publicly funded long-term care beds. It also has assisted and independent living residences, none of which are impacted by the outbreak.

IH confirms the outbreak is in the complex care unit only

The facility has implemented a temporary stop to visits.

IH announced COVID-19 outbreaks at Noric House and Heritage Square (also owned by Kaigo Retirement Communities) in Vernon earlier this week.
