Vernon makes a timely tech donation
A city of Vernon technology upgrade is coming at just the right time for many local non-profit organizations.
The city’s information services has 40 computer towers that have “aged-out” and will be donated to social service agencies through the Social Planning Council. The hard drives in these computer towers have been removed for security reasons, so the recipients will have to purchase hard drives for them.
“So many social agencies are providing services online due to COVID-19,” Annette Sharkey, the executive director of the North Okanagan Social Planning Council said. “We are facilitating the transfer to those non-profits that are in the most need.”
While the machines may not be up to city standards, they have enough life left to be of use to the non-profits, with very little cost.
