Vipers drop a pair to Penticton Vees

Nov 7, 2020 | 8:50 PM

Tyler Carpendale scored two goals for the Vernon Vipers who lost 6-3 to the Penticton Vees in the Peach City Saturday night.

The front-running Vees took both ends of the weekend series.

The Vipers held the Vees to just 22 shots, but couldn’t hold them off the scoresheet.

Here is a recap from the Vipers website:

The goals would come in flurries throughout the game and no better example of it in the first period where there just only 9 shots combined, but 3 goals.  All three of those goals came within a 61 second span.  Tyler Carpendale opened the scoring with his 2nd of the exhibition tournament before JoJo Tanaka-Campbell rang up a powerplay goal.  Quinn Hutson replied just 21 seconds later making it 2-1 after 1 period.

Jacob Quillan and Quinn Hutson added goals in the middle period for the Vees to make it 3-2 after 2.

Hutson had his 3rd of the night with 7 minutes remaining.  Moments after that, Tyler Carpendale responded with his 2nd of the night to make it 4-3.  Devlin O’Brien would have two of his own including a buzzer beater to make the final score 6-3.

The Vipers next play Friday night in the semi-finals of the Okanagan Cup Tournament when they will visit the West Kelowna Warriors.

Time of the game will be released this week, and you can listen to all the Viper games on 107.5 Beach Radio and VernonMatters.ca.
