Vipers drop second straight in extra time to Warriors

The West Kelowna Warriors defeated the Vernon Vipers 4-3 for the second straight game, this time in overtime as opposed to a shootout.

The game was held at Royal Lepage Place in West Kelowna Saturday.

Will Arquiett, Max Bulawka and Reagan Milburn scored for Vernon who again built up a 3-1 lead, only to see it evaporate.

The Vipers fall to 2-4-1-1 in the BCHL Okanagan Cup Tournament, and next play in Salmon Arm Friday at 6:30 on 107.5 Beach Radio.

The Silverbacks beat Penticotn Vees 4-2, the Vees first loss in the tournament, now 9-1-0-0.

It went right down to the wire.

The Vernon Vipers fell to 2-4-0-1 in the BCHL’s Okanagan Cup Tournament with a 4-3 shootout loss to the West Kelowna Warriors.

The exhibition game was played “sans fans” at Kal Tire Place Friday night. but if there had of been fans, they would have been entertained.

Vernon took a 3-1 lead in the first period on goals from Will Arquiett, Hunter Donohoe and Nicholas Remissong, only to see the Warriors come back to tie it in the second.

Both teams had a penalty shot, which is how Arquiett got his goal, and Viper goalie Roan Clarke stopped John Evans on his shot in overtime.

The Warriors scored two goals in the shootout to Vernon’s one.

Kelowna Rockets goalie Roman Basran played in net for West Kelowna.

The teams have a rematch Saturday night in West Kelowna, with the game on 107.5 Beach Radio at 6:45 p.m.
