Vipers still winless in BCHL exhibition season

Oct 8, 2020 | 10:43 AM

The Vernon Vipers are still looking for their first win of the BCHL exhibition season while the Penticton Vees have yet to lose.

The Vees blanked the Vipers 4-0 before no fans at the South Okanagan Events Centre Wednesday night.

The Vees are now 5-0 while the Vipers are 0-3.

According to a game report from Graham Turnbull, the voice of the Vipers, the Snakes fired a couple of early strikes at the Vees goal, but Kaedan Lane was dialed in early and turned them aside including a great chance off Ethan Mercer. From their the Vees struck on the first of two powerplay goals as Quinn Hutson deposited a rebound behind Roan Clarke to make it 1-0.

Roan Clarke was a big story for his team as he turned aside a number of big saves including a five-alarm save on Ben Wozney. Turnovers cost the Vipers on the 2-0 goal as they lost the handle behind the net and Devlin O’Brien was the beneficiary. The Vees powerplay added another from Fin Williams to make it 3-0 at the intermission.

In the third, the Vipers struggled to manufacture much. They had one good spurt that saw Max Bulawka hit a goal post. From there Matteo Constantini tacked on another goal to make the final 4-0.

The Vipers will host the Vees for their fourth game of the Okanagan Cup Tournament on Saturday night at 6 p.m. You can catch all the action on 107.5 Beach Radio, Vernon Matters and HockeyTV.
