Vipers drop exhibition opener (Sept. 27)

It was a quiet night to open the BCHL’s exhibition season — quiet because there were no fans in the buildings.

The West Kelowna Warriors defeated the Vernon Vipers 4-1 at Royal Lepage Place Friday. The teams will play again at Kal Tire Place Saturday.

Felix Trudeau had 2 goals for the Warriors while Ryan Shostak scored for Vernon.

Penticton Vees got two goals from Tristan Amonte in a 7-0 win over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.

It was the first two games of the Okanagan Cup series.

The tournament consists of 27 games featuring the Vernon Vipers, Salmon Arm Silverbacks, Penticton Vees and West Kelowna Warriors with two sets of home-and-home action as each team will face-off against one another four times. The games will take place on Fridays and Saturdays with each team playing a total of 12 games.

The final weekend of play will start November 7th followed by a weekend of semi-final and final action, beginning November 13th and concluding with the championship game on November 14th.
