Last gasp of summer
Environment Canada has issued two special weather statements for the Okanagan over the next 24-48 hours both thanks to a high pressure ridge.
The national forecast agency indicates an upper ridge of high-pressure is drawing warm air northward from the United States. Temperatures will peak through Friday with daytime highs that are 5 to 10 degrees Celsius above seasonal for this time of year. Overnight lows will also be up to 5 degrees warmer than seasonal in some areas.
The same high pressure ridge will draw wildfire smoke north again from fires raging in Washington state and Oregon, prompting Environment Canada to issue a Smoky Skies Advisory for all areas of the Okanagan.
