Salmon Arm residents in terrifying home invasion

Jun 29, 2020 | 4:31 PM

Two Salmon Arm residents were terrified and tied up Monday when a pair of suspects broke into their home brandishing a knife.

RCMP are hunting for the two suspects.

On June 29, 2020 at 8:12 a.m., Salmon Arm RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter to a residence on the 1200 block of 30 Street SW.

“Police have learned that two male suspects, one brandishing a knife, forced their way into the home occupied by two residents,” said Salmon Arm detachment commander St. Sgt. Scott West. “Once inside the suspects searched the house and allegedly took cash, debit bank cards, a lap top computer, a tablet and keys to the homeowner’s red Ford Taurus.”

He said the residents provided access pin codes to the armed suspects after being threatened.

The victims were tied up but managed to free themselves after the suspects took off and called police from a neighbour’s house.

RCMP in a neighbouring jurisdiction have since recovered a stolen Ford Taurus, which will be examined forensically for evidence, police said.

One suspect is described as a Caucasian male, approximately five-feet-eight-inches to six-feet tall, with a slender build, approximately 40 years of age, seen wearing a grey long sleeve shirt, a pair of light coloured shorts and a light coloured baseball cap.

If you witnessed this incident and have not yet spoken to police you are asked to call the Salmon Arm RCMP at 250-832-6044. Or remain completely anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
