Kelowna woman elected President of Canadian Jewellery Group

A Kelowna business woman has been elected President of one of Canada’s most influential business associations.

Kim Berg, co-owner of European Goldsmith Fine Jewellery, is the new president of the Canadian Jewellery Group Cooperative Association (CJG). CJG is Canada’s largest jewellery buying group and leading group of independent jewellery store owners.

“The world is changing quickly, and so is our industry,” says Berg. “As President, it is my role to help our members evolve with the times and stay ahead of changes in everything from fashion to marketing, and security.”

Founded in 1977, the Canadian Jewellery Group has 97 retail members with 121 jewellery stores across the country. The scale of the organization allows independent retailers the opportunity to compete with large national chains while maintaining their independence.

Members of CJG are expected to set the standard for excellence in the industry. Customers can expect professionalism, integrity, knowledge, service, and ethically-sourced products at all member locations.

“In any business, it’s great to have people that you can reach out to for ideas or advice. My fellow members are like family and we really look out for one another,” says Berg of her experience with the group.

European Goldsmith Fine Jewellery opened its doors in Orchard Park Mall in 1996. More than two decades later, the store is located on Pandosy Street and features one of the largest selections of fine jewellery in the Okanagan Valley, as well as an on-site goldsmith, John Berg.

Kim Berg has served on the Board for the CJG for the past three years, having joined the organization in 2005. She is only the second woman to be elected President of the prestigious group.
