The Kelowna Rockets will get one of their top players back from an NHL training camp.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have re-assigned forward Nolan Foote back to the Rockets for the 2019-2020 season, which will culminate with the team hosting the Memorial Cup.

The Lightning selected Foote during the first round (No. 27) at the 2019 NHL Draft in Vancouver.

The forward made his preseason debut with Tampa Bay on Wednesday, September 18 against the Carolina Hurricanes. Despite being shut out 2-0 by the Hurricanes, he had an even plus-minus rating while putting two shots on net in 13:53 of playing time.

Last night both Nolan and older brother Cal had the chance to play against the Nashville Predators and Matt Duchene. Duchene lived with the Foote family when he broke into the NHL.

Foote suited up for 66 games for the Rockets last season, posting 36 goals and 63 points. He lead the Rockets in goals and power-play goals (17) and was tied for second for points.

The Rockets are back in action this Friday, September 27 when they face the Kamloops Blazers on the road. They’ll return home Saturday, September 28 to take on the Everett Silvertips.
