Update: Part of 27th Street closed

Sep 20, 2019 | 9:17 AM

Update 12 p.m.

Rain this morning affected the repaving project on 27th Street, with the section from 30th Ave. to Highway 6 closed off.

The city says the southbound lane of 27th has since reopened, but that section will be closed again as of 5 p.m. today for repaving.

“Crews anticipate re-opening 27th Street tomorrow morning (Saturday) by 7 a.m., weather dependent,” said Christy Poirier, Manager of Communications and Grants with the City of Vernon.

The City of Vernon and its contractors have had to close 27th Street from 30th Avenue to Highway 6 due to weather conditions affecting the repaving project.

“The city asks the traveling public to be patient, drive according to conditions and obey all traffic control,” said a city news release.

Vernon Matters has reached out to the city to find out how long the closure could last, and what the weather conditions affecting the project, are.
