Area B (BX-Swan Lake) in the Regional District of North Okanagan is a step closer to getting its first pot shop.

The RDNO board granted its approval for a cannabis store in the Squires Four Pub complex at 6301 Stickle Road.

A public hearing on the application was held earlier this month by RDNO, with one speaker, the owner of Squires Four Pub, which is also the proposed owner of the cannabis outlet (name not provided, but applicant listed as in care of Tom Christensen).

“The following summarizes the points made by the owner: Hours of operation (9 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week), Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch will conduct inspections for compliance, RCMP will be notified of illegal sales, cost of cannabis is set by the government, purchase amounts are controlled by the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch, no smoking of cannabis is allowed on the property, and no returns on purchased products,” the minutes from the Sept. 4 meeting said from Rick Fairbairn, chair of the Electoral Area Advisory Committee.
