Police are still investigating the cause of a two boat crash on Shuswap Lake that killed an Okanagan man.

Thirty-three-year-old Ryan Hartmann of Lake Country died Sunday evening after he and 25-year-old woman were ejected when two speed boats travelling together collided between Canoe and Sicamous.

Hartmann’s body has yet to be recovered from the lake.

“Despite search efforts, a 33-year-old man from Lake Country was not located and is now presumed drowned. The RCMP have since shifted their efforts in the area to a recovery mission,” Cpl. Chris Manseau, Division Media Relations Officer, BC RCMP Communication Services, said.

The injured woman is said to be recovering in hospital.

Manseau said police continue to look into the cause and have brought in specialized resources to assist local investigators.

“Salmon Arm RCMP are now seeking the public’s assistance as they work on this tragic event. If you witnessed a white, black and blue Cigar Boat and a white Cigar Boat travelling in tandem or stationary on the Salmon Arm of Shuswap Lake on September 1, 2019 between the hours of 7:30 p.m. and 8:20 p.m. between Herold Park and Paradise Point, our investigators would like to speak to you. If you captured these boats on video or in still photographs we would like to examine those records,” Manseau stated.
