Council to consider adventure park application

Sep 3, 2019 | 5:30 AM

Spallumcheen council will discuss the plan for a mountain adventure park at its meeting tonight.

Patti and Jack Wood are seeking a zoning text change to allow the park on Powerhouse Road, featuring a mountain coaster, ziplines and other activities on a five acre site.

Some residents and farmers voiced water, traffic and other concerns at a public hearing last month.

Staff are recommending council give third reading, but hold off on final approval until the applicant has registered a covenant on the site.

Staff Recommendation:

“…THAT following consideration of comments received at the Public Hearing, the Township of Spallumcheen Zoning Text Amendment Bylaw No. 1988, 2019 which proposes to amend Sections 803 and 804 of the Township of Spallumcheen Zoning Bylaw No. 1700, 2008 to permit a ‘mountain adventure park’ on the properties located at 1995 Powerhouse Road be considered for Third Reading;

AND THAT Final Adoption of the Township of Spallumcheen Zoning Text Amendment Bylaw No. 1988 be withheld until the applicant has registered a Section 219 Covenant in favour of the Township of Spallumcheen and in priority of all financial charges against the title of the subject properties.
