Cold Case: Hammarskjold Showing September 9

Sep 3, 2019 | 9:09 AM

September 9th will be an opportunity for you to see the true story of Cold Case: Hammarskjold being shown at the Vernon Towne Theatre by the Okanagan Screen Arts Society.

You will be mesmerized as Danish journalist, filmmaker, and director Mads Brügger and Swedish private investigator, Göran Björkdahl, delve into solving the mysterious death of Dag Hammarskjold, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, whose plane mysteriously crashes in1961 killing Hammarskjold and most of the crew.

The case had turned cold and remained unsolved for more than 50 years when provocateur Mads Brügger begins to investigate and attempt to unearth the truth. After many false starts, dead ends, and elusive interviews, Brügger and Björkdahl stumble upon something more sinister than anything they had initially imagined as they uncover a critical secret that could send shockwaves around the world.

In his signature style, Brügger plays the role of truth seeker in this very moving film involving key issues of the Cold War and African decolonization.

Showtimes at 5:15 & 7:45 p.m. Pre-show intro by resident Film maker, Matt McDowell. Enjoy live music in the lobby before the early show courtesy of Les Copeland. Cash wine bar open for both shows.

Advance tickets available at the Towne Cinema box office and Expressions of Time bookstore.
