Missing woman found after nightmarish adventure

100 MILE HOUSE, B.C. — A 22-year-old woman reported missing in the B.C. Interior Monday (Aug. 26) has been found safe — but not before enduring a heavy dose of bad luck.

Amy Anonby left Vernon en route to Mahood Lake northeast of 100 Mile House on Sunday. She never arrived.

According to 100 Mile House RCMP, Anonby was found by South Cariboo Search and Rescue Monday evening near Grizzly Lake, east of Bridge Lake.

RCMP say she was “fine health wise” and confirmed that her car’s oil pan had been ripped open by the road conditions.

In a message to an acquaintance posted on Twitter, Anonby said she had pushed her car into the middle of the road and positioned road signs around it so she could be more easily noticed by aerial searchers.
