Vipers trim roster after Blue/White game

Aug 22, 2019 | 11:06 AM

To the fans it was just another scrimmage, but to many Vernon Vipers prospects, it was their last chance to make a name for themselves and get a spot on the team.

The annual Blue/White game on Wednesday night at Kal Tire Place was the final event of the team’s three-day BCHL training camp.

Team White came out on top 4-3.

Curtis Hammond scored two goals including the eventual game winner.

Vipers Head Coach and GM Jason McKee liked the effort put out by the players.

“This was a good evaluation tool for our staff as we prepare for the exhibition part of the schedule,” said McKee.

Following the game, the Vipers trimmed their roster from 42 to 34 players to begin exhibition play.

The Vipers host the Grande Prairie Storm on Friday night for the first of three home pre-season games.

Tickets are $5 for adults and kids get in free.
