Aug 20, 2019 | 11:58 AM

A fight involving two men at the Fruit Union Plaza in Vernon ended up with police and other emergency personnel in Polson Park overnight.

Police were alerted to a “disturbance” in the 3100 block of 25 Avenue around midnight, with the individuals involved fleeing into the park before police arrived.

“Our officers conducted foot patrols of the park and located a highly intoxicated man who matched the description given by the complainant” said Cpl. Tania Finn with the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP. “The second individual could not be located.”

An 18-year-old man from Edmonton was taken into custody to sober up.

“He was checked over by paramedics and it was determined he should be held by police until he was sober. The individual has been charged under the Liquor Control and Licensing Act for being intoxicated in a public place for $115 and possession of liquor by a minor for $230,” Finn added.

B.C. Emergency Health Services said one person was taken by ambulance to hospital in stable condition, with no others details provided.

The RCMP made no mention of anyone being injured in their news release.
