West Kelowna RCMP are investigating following a daytime shooting south of Peachland Sunday that resulted in a man taken to hospital with an apparent gunshot wound.

Police received a report of the shooting at around 5:47 p.m., outside of a residence in the 7200 block of Highway 97 South.

Emergency crews arrived and transported the man to hospital.

“Although the man’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening in nature, there could have been a very different outcome,” Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey, a spokesperson for the Kelowna Regional RCMP Detachment, said.

Police believe the incident was isolated and do not believed there is a risk to the general public.

According to a news release, the suspect is believed to have been wearing a black T-shirt and reportedly had his face covered when committing the act.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the West Kelowna RCMP.
