Hockey league seeking new commissioner

Aug 9, 2019 | 1:27 PM

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League is taking applications for its commissioner’s position.

A posting on the league’s website says the position is responsible, in part, for directing, developing, carrying out goals and implementing objectives and policies laid out in the KIJHL constitution and or directed and approved by the Board of Directors.

The posting closes August 31.

All submissions are being directed to Brett Holt, president of the Columbia Valley Rockies at cvrockies.president@gmail.com

The current commissioner (president) of the 20-team Junior B league is Larry Martel of West Kelowna, according to a listing on the league website.

Bill Ohlhausen stepped down as president in 2018 after 17 years at the helm.

Martel was chosen as president until the board completed a leadership re-organization.
