It took place at the intersection of Highway 1 and Highway 97B, with police called at 8 a.m.

“Upon arrival it was determined that a pickup truck travelling west on Highway 1 turned left in front of an east bound motorcycle in the controlled intersection. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured. The motorcycle rider, a man in his 60’s from Alberta, was transported to hospital in serious condition and his prognosis is not known,” said Cpl. Mike Halskov.

Drive B.C. says the westbound lanes have reopened while the eastbound lanes remain closed.

Vehicles can take highways 97B and 97A as a detour.

The highway will reopen at 12:30 p.m.

Halskov said it’s the second collision involving a motorcycle on Highway 1 between Salmon Arm and Revelstoke in recent days after a crash west of Revelstoke near the Enchanted Forest on Wednesday.

“Police would like to remind all motorists to be vigilant as they travel around B.C. Please drive defensively, obey speed limits, wear seat belts, drive sober and drive distraction-free every time you get behind the wheel,” the corporal said.
