Committed to taking action

Students celebrating World Environment Day

Jun 5, 2019 | 7:00 AM

They say kids are the future, and now some keen kids with a passion for the environment will be showcasing their ideas on how to create a greener community.

The City of Vernon is inviting the public to view some of the student’s climate solution ideas at the Village Green Mall at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

In a news release, the city said some of the ideas generated at the event may be used in the climate action plan, which helps formulate sustainability policies in the city.

The city states that they are committed to taking action on climate change.

They formed a climate advisory committee in 2018, and they are now working to build a climate action plan which will address ways to reduce greenhouse gases and other methods to create a more climate resilient Vernon.
