Business leader honoured for contributions

Okanagan Regional Library has paid tribute to a business leader for his contributions to the relocation and renovation at the Armstrong Library.

A meeting room at the library has been dedicated in David Askew’s name after his help to find and furnish a larger site in the Askew’s Shopping Centre on Smith Drive.

“On April 1, 2017, Armstrong Library re-opened its doors and welcomed patrons into a larger, newly renovated space. Thanks to David Askew’s contributions, the new Armstrong Library transformation was nothing short of spectacular,” says an ORL news release.

ORL says the new site features a beautiful interior, modular and flexible floor layout, meeting and study rooms, quality furniture built to last, more education-focused resources, more computers, more internet access points and more space for everyone.

Michal Utko, Director of Marketing and Communications for ORL, says the Armstrong Library wouldn’t be what it is today without Mr. Askew’s contributions and donations.

“Everyone at ORL appreciates Mr. Askew’s generosity, and we are proud to dedicate a meeting room in his name,” says Utko.

The meeting room is used by the library staff and the community to host events, programs and activities.

Askew is the general manager of Askew’s Foods which has stores in Salmon Arm, Armstrong and Sicamous.
