People’s Party set to pick candidate

Local members of the People’s Party of Canada will choose their federal election candidate at a nomination meeting this weekend  in Vernon.

Ian Tribes and Kyle Delfing are seeking the nomination for the North Okanagan Shuswap riding.

“It is now up to our membership to select which candidate will best represent us in the October Federal Election,” says a news release from the North Okanagan Shuswap Electoral District Association.

The meeting will be this Saturday at the Schubert Centre from 1 to 4 p.m.

The candidate introduction will start at 1:15 p.m., with voting  from 1:45 to 3:30 p.m., and the winner announced 3:45 p.m.

“Eligible members are those who have joined the PPC prior to May 23 2019,” says the release.

The right-wing party is headed by former Conservative cabinet minister Maxime Bernier.

The riding’s confirmed candidates so far as Cindy Derkaz of the Liberals and current first term M-P Mel Arnold of the Conservatives.
