City Pushes For More Gaming Revenue Sharing
The City of Armstrong would like to see all municipalities in B.C. get a share of gaming revenue.
The City is taking a resolution to this fall’s Union of B.C. Municipalities conference for the province to distribute 10% of revenue from lotteries and online gaming to municipalities on the basis of population.
Mayor Chris Pieper says the only communities to get a cut of the funds now are cities that have lottery outlets, such as casinos, in them.
“So the City of Vernon gets a grant, Kamloops, Kelowna, Penticton, Vancouver, Victoria and so forth, but all the communities that do not have a lottery centre in them do not get direct funding from the B.C. Lottery Corporation.”
