Spruce Kings Take Stranglehold on BCHL Final

The Prince George Spruce Kings are one win away from their first BC Hockey League championship.

Ben Poisson scored at 12:07 of the first overtime to lift the Kings over the hometown Vernon Vipers 4-3 before 2,268 fans at at Kal Tire Place Tuesday.

It was the best game of the series so far with Lane Zablocki scoring 2 goals for Vernon, including one with 2 minutes left in the third to force overtime.

PG, who have won 12 straight games,  lead the Fred Page Cup series 3-0 and can wrap up the title Wednesday night in Vernon.

The series winner will get an automatic berth into the RBC Cup tournament after the Brooks Bandits, who are hosting the RBC Cup, won the Alberta title over Spruce Grove.
