David White and Brianna Li are off to the World Taekwondo Championships in Germany

A Vernon Taekwondo athlete has qualified for the world championships.

15 year old Brianna Li has just returned from the Canadian Taekwondo Federation’s National Team Selections Camp in Quebec.

“The National Training Camp was held in Longueil, Quebec and served as an opportunity for athletes to train for events such as patterns, sparring, special technique (flying), and power breaking. This was also the chance for athletes to put their best foot forward and get selected for the team competition in which each country puts forward a well-rounded team to compete against one another in all the standard events,” says a news release

Li, a Seaton Secondary French Immersion student, and her coach David White of Sundance Taekwondo will be off to Germany in April for the worlds, representing the Canadian National Team.

“The tournament will host almost approximately 1200 black belt athletes from over 60 countries over 5 days of action-packed competition. The championships will run from April 24th to 28th at the Max Aicher Arena in the city of Inzell in the Bavarian Alps,” says the release.

Li also represented Canada at the worlds in Ireland in 2017.

Sundance Head Instructor David White is one of six coaches chosen to attend the worlds in Germany Germany to coach athletes from across Canada, his first time being
selected as a National Coach.

He has served as a British Columbia Team Coach for 8 years and worked with athletes of all ages and skill levels.
