Vipers Jump Track as Express Charge

Vipers Drop One on the Road

Nov 3, 2018 | 8:33 AM

The Vernon Vipers started a two game road trip on the wrong foot in Coquitlam, Friday night. The Express charged through to a 4 – 1 victory, scoring once in each of the first two periods, and twice in the third. The lone Viper goal came in the third period off the stick of Josh Latta – with assists going to Jagger Williamson and Mitch Andres.

Despite racking up 32 shots on goal (to the Express’ 37) Vipers could not get anything else past Coquitlam goaltender, Clay Stevenson – going 0/3 on the power play, while the Express went 1/7.

“It’s pretty hard to ask your group to fight back against a good hockey team when you’re in the box” said Mark Ferner Vipers Head Coach. Ferner also cited too many penalties in the third period as having hurt the team’s chances of playing a better game, saying the team has to “smarten up in certain areas of the game” headed into their next match.
