Smoke Postpones UBC Okanagan Heat Men’s Weekend Soccer Matches

Aug 25, 2018 | 12:31 PM

Both today’s and Sunday’s UBC Okanagan Heat men’s soccer conference opening matches have been postponed after a Friday afternoon update from the conference. All postponed due to poor air quality.

From Canada West Communications

Additional Canada West men’s soccer regular season games have been postponed this weekend due to smoke from the ongoing forest fires in British Columbia.

Saturday games scheduled to be played in Kamloops and Kelowna have been postponed. Sunday games in both cities remain scheduled, with further postponement possible depending on air quality.

UBC Okanagan in Kelowna was originally scheduled to play Trinity Western later that afternoon at 3.

As of Friday afternoon, air quality on Environment Canada’s Air Quality Health Index in Kelowna was rated as 10.
Today’s games in Kamloops and Kelowna are the latest CW games to be postponed due to air quality concerns. .
