Skier Off To Kiwi Country

A local skier will begin her ski season this weekend  — thousands of kilometres away — where there is snow.

Elena Gaskell  — who is sponsored by Silver Star Mountain Resort –will be competing in the Slopestyle and Big Air events at The Junior Freestyle Ski World Championships in New Zealand.

Gaskell is coming off an earlier first place finish in Whistler at the World Ski and Snowboard Festival

SilverStar has been Gaskell’s home mountain since she first joined the ski school at the age of four.

“We are excited to see Elena compete in this week’s upcoming international ski competition,” says Ken Derpak, Managing Director at SilverStar Mountain Resort. “We are thrilled to support the Okanagan Valley’s talented skiers, snowboarders, freestylers and bikers – it’s great to see them continue to excel.”
