Bike Park Ready For Opening

Jun 12, 2018 | 2:00 PM

A grand opening has been set for Vernon’s newest recreational facility.

The Becker Bike Park, west of the Curling Club, features three pump tracks, a gradual climbing trail and flow trail, for beginner to intermediate riders.

The public is invited to the opening from 4 to 6 pm Monday June 18th at the site at 3404 39th Avenue.

“There will be local treats and refreshments for riders and participants. There will also be a trail naming contest for the pump tracks and trails. Ride your bikes or parking is available at the Curling Rink,” says a City news release.

Most of the estimated 80-thousand dollar cost came from donations to the City and the North Okanagan Cycling Society.

Those included the Kalamalka Rotary Club, Foord Family Foundation, Community Foundation North Okanagan, Funtastic and Sun Country Cycle.

“This project was a testament to what a community can achieve together. The bike park provides a fun and inclusive activity for the whole family and is a great addition to Vernon’s growing cycling infrastructure,” says the City.
