Vipers Drop Series in Heart-breaker OT Loss to Wild

It was a must win game for the Vipers that was decided in overtime, unfortunately Wenatchee came out on top 4-3.

The Snakes came out strong leading 3-1 after 1, but then Wenatchee’s offense kicked in with 3 unanswered goals, including the game winner early in overtime to take the series in 6.  The Vipers fought off 2 Wild power plays in the last 5 minutes of the game to force overtime.

Again the Wild out-shot the Vipers 59-26, earning Vernon goalie Ty Taylor Third Star keeping the Snakes in it all the time in the disappointing loss.

In the other Interior series the Trail Smoke Eaters dropped a 6-1 decision at home to Penticton as the Vees forced a 7th. game back in Penticton on Monday.

In WHL action,  the Kelowna Rockets came out strong early and watched a 3-0 lead slip into a 9-7 defeat as the visiting Tri-City Americans took an unexpected 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven first round series.

Games three and four go in Kennewick, WA. on Wednesday and Thursday.
