Watch It Again: Canadian Gold PLUS a Lost Gem

In case you missed it, or you find crying at this (again) therapeutic, Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir’s free dance routine that shattered their personal best score, and netted them gold medals in PyeongChang. And if the performance was not emotional enough to get the tears rolling, Watch the “20 years of magic“ montage put together by CBC.

Never in my life have I heard so many people (men especially) talk about figure skating after what has transpired at the Olympics over the past few days. The French wardrobe malfunction ensured that absolutely everyone (guys, I’m looking at you) was watching Virtue and Moir last night.


Something not enough people talking about though… Ski ballet. For two consecutive winter Olympics (1988 and 1992) the world enjoyed ski ballet as a demonstration sport. The International Olympic Committee removed the support from the line up after the ’92 games and by 2000, the international ski federation ceased all formal competition.

With all this renewed interest in dance, it’s probably worthwhile having the conversation about bringing back ski ballet, as it is scored very similar to figure skating.
