Man Dies After Snowmobiling

Jan 9, 2018 | 1:04 PM

A 39 year old West Kelowna man has died after collapsing while snowmobiling with family and friends east of Kelowna.

A 911 call was made Monday afternoon about the man being in medical distress inside a cabin in the Graystokes area.

The caller had to travel about 20 minutes by snowmobile to be able to call for help.

“Central Okanagan Search And Rescue and the Big White Fire Department were dispatched to assist, and emergency crews were challenged with poor cellular and radio reception,” says Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey of Kelowna RCMP.

“Sadly, despite the efforts of those performing CPR on scene, the man was deemed deceased upon the arrival of emergency medical crews by a Search and Rescue  helicopter,” says the corporal.

RCMP say the death is not believed to be suspicious as they assist the Coroner’s Service in the investigation.
