Former Viper and Friend Found After Mountain Search

Search crews came to the rescue of a former Vernon Viper and his friend after they went missing while snowmobiling near Revelstoke.

Taylor Dumonceaux and Andrew Macleod, both 24 and from Kelowna, were found on Boulder Mountain Sunday afternoon.

The pair spent a cold night on the mountain, but RCMP say they are in good condition.

Revelstoke Search and Rescue spent ten hours over two days looking for the two.

They said the men had minimal experience sledding, and it’s not believed they had any food, water or overnight equipment.

Dumonceaux is a former forward with the BCHL’s Vipers, and goes by the name TJ.

Revelstoke RCMP with support from REVSAR have closed Boulder Mountain this morning until further notice in support of an ongoing search for a pair of missing snowmobilers.

Sled and helicopter rescue teams will be searching the mountain today.

CBC News reports Taylor Dumonceaux, 24, and Andrew Macleod, 24, both from Kelowna, rented snowmobiles from a local rental company to go sledding on the mountain, a popular snowmobiling destination about four kilometres west of the town of Revelstoke.

Dumonceaux is a former player with the Vernon Vipers.

RCMP say they were alerted to their disappearance when the two men failed to return their rented equipment to a local company.

Revelstoke Search and Rescue continue in the search today after trying to locate the two missing men yesterday. .

Indications are that the men have minimal experience sledding and are believed not equipped to sustain themselves overnight with food, water or essential overnight equipment.
