Arena Construction ‘Going Great’

Jan 5, 2018 | 2:40 PM

Construction on Greater Vernon’s new arena is going better than expected.

Director of Recreation Services Doug Ross says the 13 million dollar expansion at Kal Tire Place has been under construction since last May.

“It’s going great. It’s on time and on budget. They’re actually ahead of schedule in a lot of aspects of the project. The snow that’s happened recently hasn’t really hindered their progress, so they’re moving forward,” R0ss tells Beach Radio News.

Ross says the roofing system should be done soon.

“The Q-decking and roofing should be done by the end of this week, and they’re going to be moving forward with other aspects of the project.”

Ross says plumbing and mechanical system installations are well ahead of schedule.

The city is expecting the 400 seat arena, located north of the existing building, to be completed by September 1.
