Snowfall Warning Continues For North Okanagan

That snow coming down this morning isn’t going to end anytime soon.

Greg Pearce with Environment Canada says the snowfall warning issued early last night stands.

“It’ll probably start to end later this evening. We cloud see up to about 10 centimetres through the day today. I called one weather watcher there in Vernon. he’s reported about seven on the ground since the snow started last night.”

Pearce says we may get another 5 to ten centimetres this evening.

“Then we’ll have a bit of a break but there’s another storm coming up for later on Friday and into Friday night and into Saturday so there’s a possibility we could get another good dump of snow with that system too.”

Snowfall warnings are also up for the mountain passes.

“Yes, we have snowfall warnings out for Coquihalla summit. They could get up to 20 centimetres today. They’ve aleready had 10 to 15 up there. It’s going to be quite treacherous if you’re trying to head toward the coast.”

Freezing rain is also reported in the Fraser Valley.

Pearce says anyone thinking about trying to travel to the Lower Mainland would best be advised to put it off until the weather improves.
