Sounds Like Something The Grinch Would Do

It appears Vernon has a Christmas light bandit.

RCMP have received three reports of thefts where Christmas light projectors and decorations were taken from area homes.

The Grinch-like thief is entering the yards in the middle of the night, unplugging light projectors and making off with the lights.

There has been video surveillance at some of the sites, but the video is poor quality and hard to make out a suspect.

“There have been no other witness accounts of this Grinch who seems to think it’s okay to steal the Christmas displays, however it is only a matter of time before the suspect is seen or recognized from home surveillance systems,” says Cst. Kelly Brett.

RCMP say if you have valuable Christmas light equipment that is easily accessible to a person walking by, you should secure the item and bring it inside for the night.

“Although we have only had the three reported incidents, Vernon RCMP are aware there may be more incidents un-documented as it appears to be a hot topic on social media sites,” says Brett.
