VJH Outbreak Still Not Over

A gastrointestinal outbreak at Vernon Jubilee Hospital has still not been officially contained.

Interior Health says another case was identified Thursday, so it will be Monday at the earliest that the outbreak could be declared over.

There’s been nine cases of the illness involving staff and patients since it first surfaced last Sunday.

The impacted area has been limited to the inpatient psychiatry unit.

Response measures have included enhanced cleaning, posting signs, and closing admissions to the impacted unit.
