Armstrong Seniors Flooded Out In May Back Home

Dec 13, 2017 | 7:59 AM

Nine units of an Armstrong assisted living complex flooded out in May have now finally been refurbished and ready for occupancy.

Armstrong Council heard Monday the flooding was hard on the residents of Pioneer Square.

“it was a tremendous impact on them. Even the other ten that were left, just having construction workers there and all this kind of stuff, it was an impact on the whole business and the whole nineteen residents.”

Mayor Chris Pieper says that was just one example of the impact of flooding in the community.

The city is still trying to work through the bureaucracy involved in improving Meighan Creek.

“I mean you can’t fix a hundred metres of the creek without impacting somebody down the creek. We know it was flooded right from Okanagan Lake, right through Spallumcheen, Spallumcheen golf course, all the way up Otter Lake way.”

Pieper says It’s a big problem that will take several agencies and governments to come up with a solution
