Armstrong Mayor Approves Site C Decision

Armstrong Mayor Chris Pieper thinks the NDP made the right move in going ahead with the Site C Dam.

Pieper says it’s been talked about for decades and with the work that’s been done, you can’t turn back on the investment.

“I’m happy to see them continue it. The overall decision by other governments to go forward has to be maintained.”

Pieper says it’s difficult to look into the future to see the effect it will create.

But looking back on other projects, there are benefits.

“If British Columbia had never built Revelstoke Dam or Mica Dam or the one at Hudson Hope where would we be today as far as the supply of power. We would be like a lot of other areas in the world where you would be doing coal or something else.”

Pieper says he thinks adding one more resource to what is probably the best hydro system in the world would eventually be seen as an asset.
