Giving The Gift Of Healthy Eating

Dec 11, 2017 | 7:09 AM

You can give the gift of healthy eating this Christmas.

The Good Food Box program allows families to get affordable produce on a monthly basis.

Spokesperson and long time volunteer Donna Antonishak says the fruits and veggies are sourced locally, as much as possible.

“Obviously locally grown food is fresher and tastier, but it really supports our local economy and environment, and it supports local farm families as well,” Antonishak tells Kiss FM.

She says there is a number of ways people can get involved.

“We offer a $10 box for individuals, a $17 box for families, and $20 supports the program. And if people would like deliveries, they can be arranged for a $3 charge.

Vernon, Armstrong, Lumby and Falkland are part of the program.

Antonishak — who helped start the program in 2000 —  says the number of families varies from season to season, but they currently have 300 signed up.
