Vipers Blank Vees on Teddy Bear Night
In BCHL action last night, not only were the Vipers flying…the fur was flying, as it was the teddy bear toss night and Niko Karamanis unleashed the bears, and the lions and anything that was bearing fur on the ice with just 2 seconds left in the first period.
The Vipers wouldn’t look back from then on cruising to a 4-0 shutout of the visiting Penticton Vees. Jagger Williamson and Sam Anzai would get goals just 16 seconds apart in the second with Jimmy Lambert notching one more in the period chasing Adam Scheel from the Vees cage.
Niko Karamanis would get First Star on the night, Ty Taylor’s shutout was good enough to net Second Star and Jagger Williamson would earn Third Star.
It was the Vees first loss in over a month. The Vipers now have the week off hosting Merritt on Friday.
In WHL play the Kelowna Rockets, on their prairie road swing, went into Brandon on a 6 game winning streak and dropped a 7-4 decision to a red hot Wheat Kings team.
The Rockets have a couple of days off, to take in the sight and sounds of Saskatchewan, before moving into Moose Jaw on Tuesday and in Swift Current Wednesday.
