Silver Star Announces Opening

Dec 7, 2017 | 1:25 PM

Silver Star Mountain will soon have more terrain for skiers and boarders.

The resort has announced it will open its Putnam Creek area Saturday morning.

The 1,900 acre area is typically the last of the resort’s four mountain faces to open, and features more difficult and challenging terrain.

“Conditions are really good at Putnam Creek. Temperatures have been considerable cooler on the north-facing slopes which has maintained the snow very well” says Brad Baker, Operations Director for SilverStar. “Our grooming team have been out in full force and the addition of two new Pisten-bully 400s has continued our dedication for world-class grooming. Plenty of fresh corduroy to choose from including winch-groomed black diamond runs.”

For skiers and boarders who want to be the first to take on Putnam Creek, the Powder Gulch chair and the Home Run tee start operating at 8:45 am.
