Update: Flag Person Succumbs to Injuries

UPDATE:

There’s been no decision as yet on charges in a now fatal road collision in the North Okanagan that killed a flag person.

66 year old Isabel Bourroughs of Enderby died in hospital Wednesday from head injuries suffered Nov.17th when she was hit by a vehicle while she was directing traffic on the highway in Lavington.

Traci Jeeves, owner of Okanagan Traffic Control, says Bourroughs never regained consciousness.

“The Vernon North Okanagan Traffic Services are continuing their investigation into the collision.  Charges have not been laid to date,” says Cst. Kelly Brett of Vernon RCMP.

A 75 year old male driver told police he was unable to stop in time, and he remained at the scene.

Sad news this morning for anybody who has ever worked as a flag person.  66 yr old Isabel Bourroughs, the flag person hit by a vehicle in November, has passed away in hospital with her husband at her side..

Traci Jeeves, Owner of Okanagan Traffic Control notified KISS-FM of her passing this morning.

It is not known what charges will result against the 75 year old driver of the car that hit her.
About 80 traffic control people lined the highway south of Vernon to show support as she lay in a coma in hospital and to create awareness of safety issues for drivers going through construction zones.

Burroughs was celebrating her 66th. birthday at the time of the incident. She never regained consciousness.
