Help For Wildfire Impacted Businesses
Small business owners who suffered financial losses due to BC’s wildfire season can now apply for additional financial assistance.
Minister of Public Safety Mike Farnworth says it’s designed to partially compensate for uninsured losses, clean-up and other factors.
“This year’s fire season was unprecedented. We saw 65-thousand people evacuated from their homes, more than at any other time in our province’s history. Now we’re working to help our province and our communities recover,” said Farnworth.
Eligible businesses will be able to get up to $18,500 while not-for-profit organizations can apply for up to $8,500.
The application process will be managed through the Canadian Red Cross.
“We’re committed to helping small businesses get back on their feet with this funding, because when businesses thrive, communities can start to recover,” says Forests, Lands and Natural Resources Minister Doug Donaldson.
